Sometimes you cannot imagine a film with the current actors in it, but there are times you still wonder how the film would have panned out with the first choice of the cast.

8. Twinkle Khanna In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)

One of the very famous, iconic, and best romantic films of the 90’s is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. It has characters that people can still relate with and music that people still sing out loud. The romantic film tales the love story of Rahul and Anjali which takes place over several years. The interesting aspect of the film is that Rani Mukerji’s role of Tina was initially offered to Karan Johar’s first love and best friend Twinkle Khanna. However Twinkle refused the role of Tina and it went to Rani who played it effortlessly.

7. Deepika Padukone In Kick (2014)

The remake of the Telgu action film ‘Kick’ in which Salman Khan starred in the leading role. The Hindi remake was a hit at the box office and did exceptional business. The movie was filled with typical Salman Khan action masala sequences and his catchy one line catchy dialogues. Randeep and Nawaz did an amazing job in the supporting roles. What many people might not know is that the first choice for the female lead in the film was not Jacqueline Fernandez, but it was offered to Deepika Padukone. Keeping in the mind the physical demand of action sequences from the character, it would be interesting to see Salman and Deepika together.

6. Hrithik Roshan In Hum Tum (2002)

One of the most successful films of the early 2000s was the romantic comedy film ‘Hum Tum’ which starred Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan in the leading roles. The film was loosely based on the English classic film ‘When Harry Met Sally’. This Kunal Kapoor project focused on two characters and their love equations over so many years. Saif Ali Khan was not the original choice for the lead, the film was initially offered to Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik did ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge’ with Kunal Kohli which was a disaster so he was kinda skeptical of the project. And the role went to Saif Ali Khan.

5. Raveena Tandon In Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)

A great comedy released in the year 2015 was the multi starrer ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. A film that has literally everything related to a family. Now be it jealously, infidelity, equality, even trust. One of the highlight performances of the film was that of Shefali Shah who plays the role of Neelam Mehra who puts a strong front, but is emotionally so broken. A shocking fact was that the role was first offered to Raveena Tandon, but noticing the look and physique of Raveena, she looked more like the elder sister of Priyanka Chopra rather than mother. And thus the role went to Shefali Shah who did a splendid job.

4. Kareena Kapoor In Kal Ho Na Ho (2003)

One of the biggest regrets in terms of movie role rejections has to go to Kareena Kapoor when she rejected the role of Naina in the romantic drama film ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’. The movie role was rejected due to animosity at the time between Kareena and Karan Johar. The film was one of the biggest hits of the early 2000s and is still remembered for his iconic dialogues. The role then went to Preity Zinta who played it perfectly.

3. Shahid Kapoor In Rang De Basanti (2006)

One film that resonates with the viewers even today was the 2006 drama film ‘Rang De Basanti’. The film focuses on so many aspects such as political corruption, friendship, loyalty, the justice system, life and its purpose. The film is truly beautiful and is filled with exceptional performances. One of the highlight performers in the film was Siddharth who plays the character of Karan R. Singhania. Shahid Kapoor was originally presented the role of Karan, however Shahid turned down this opportunity.

An Indian comedy horror film that was a huge commercial success. The film was very entertaining and created a perfect combination of comedy, horror, and mystery. The highlight performer of the film was Vidya Balan, she stole the show with her role of Avni Chaturvedi who is a schizophrenic. It’s interesting to know that the film was first offered to Aishwarya Rai, but due to its off-beat premise, Aishwarya rejected the film.

1. Salman Khan In Chak De! India (2007)

The film is inspired by the Indian team’s win at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Chak De! India tells the fictional story of Indian women’s hockey team. It also explores themes such as sexism, feminism, patriotism. Due to creative differences, Salman Khan decided to not do the film, and the role then went to Shah Rukh Khan who gave one of the best performances of his career in the film.
